01/04/2004 Entry: "Lil Wee Diary -- Final entree"

Lil Wee Diary -- Final entree (sic)

If you need somebody, call my name
If you want someone, you can do the same
If you want to keep something precious
You got to lock it up and throw away the key
You want to hold onto your possession
Don't even think about me

If you love somebody
If you love someone
Set them free.

It's Lil Wee's last night at Hotel Rudi-Lenni. So we're gonna go out to a rabbit bar and get hammered.
No, No...
It wouldn't hurt to get a bit more of preparation done fore the morning and my first classes of the year. So we'll spend the evening reading through textbooks and dictionaries and grammars and chewing on carrots and lettuce and newspaper.

My buddy Sarah should be back tomorrah and then I must surrender Wee. People ask me how I feel about that and I tell them to check back tomorrow. To wax rhetorical, though I must say it's not so much that I'm losing a rabbit, but rather I'm regaining a friend.

To change the subject without transition, I read an article yesterday that listed which cliches have got to go. You know, number one was "metrosexual", which refers to what some folk in highschool called "guido"s but over here they call them Austrians.
Anyways, another on the list was "Companion Animal" or something like that, aka pets. I for one never heard this particular cliche used before, but I must agree that substituting a single syllable word with a six syllabic one is a bit much. Yet, I appreciate the sentiment. Housepets do indeed deserve respect, and the fact that so many are given as gifts each year for Xmas--most of which are returned to shelters-- is proof positive that many folks lack the compassion or just the part of the brain which compels one to value and respect the life of a little domestic animal.

So I bid farewell to Little Wee, my esteemed companion.

Actually all of it is true.
But I had the Reader household in mind when I wrote the last part for that very reason. I salute y'all for y'all's compassion!

The last part is so true, we live in the country/woods and you would not believe the number of kittens and puppies/dogs that people leave in our drive because the they are no longer CUTE, they have turned into full grown animals, at times we are over run by other peoples throw away pets.
A total lack of compassion and brains, as you can tell by knowing Sarah, she is very compasionate when it comes to animals, she has seen first hand how inconsiderate people can be.
