Hey all you expats, if you haven't gotten your absentee ballot yet, you might want to do something about it. More info below.
It doesn't matter if you want to vote for the Statesman or the Puppet, or maybe some third party ticket, just as long as your vote is cast.
Dear American Voter,
When you downloaded your absentee ballot request form, you agreed to receive a reminder closer to election day. Now we have an important message.
DEADLINES ARE APPROACHING FAST!
Each state has its own deadlines. Our friends at OverseasVote.com have posted a full list here: http://www.overseasvote.com/faq/state/
If you have not mailed in your completed ballot request form yet, please do so immediately!
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY MAILED IN YOUR FORM and do not receive your ballot by October 8th, you need to obtain a Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot, or FWAB. These are available from your local US consulate. Democrats Abroad has also offered to help distribute FWABs to any US voter. You can find them in more than 70 countries. See http://www.DemocratsAbroad.org. When using a FWAB, you will need to write in the names your preferred candidates for the House and Senate, as well. For your "current candidates", please see http://www.vote-smart.org.
When you receive your ballot, please remember to mail or fax it (if allowed by your state) ASAP. If you receive your ballot late, and need to rush it to your local voting board, DHL has agreed to offer a 38% discount to all US voters. Please call your local DHL office for more information (see http://www.dhl.com). (NB: This is not a commercial endorsement for DHL!)
Thank you for visiting TellAnAmericanToVote.com and for participating in this important election. We hope that the experiences we bring to US politics as expats can serve a real purpose, and that our votes can make a real difference - now and in the future!
Thanks and happy voting! TellAnAmericanToVote.com
Note: The Federal Write-in Ballot is only valid if you have previously submitted a valid absentee ballot request form, and if this was received by October 4. And don't forget - you should send in new ballot request form in 2006, to vote in the mid-term election!
