12/12/2004 Entry: "db warriors"

Anyone catch This American Life this weekend? The one about people obsessed with their cars? In which case, you caught that one bit about "dB drag racing". Good lord. look here

This "sport" comes from guys tricking out their stereos for attention. Reads: Lew Zer. But it's gone to a-whole-nother level. These guys are tweakers. Hackers, if you will. They are hardly driveable, and their systems are unsuitable for actually listening to real music. It's all about busting out a three second long low tone as loud as possible. So loud you'd go deaf if you were sitting inside so they have to activate their systems via remote control.

It warrants a kind of respect.
