What a crazy gig tonight.

It was Lord Bishop's birthday gig at the Purple Haze. Gero and Anja and I conspired to do a Dude Dude Chick guerilla set right before he went on. The logistics had made me nervous days ahead, but it turned out to be pretty easy.

First the Meenies played. Now dig: they flew out from England and took a train to get to play this one single gig for free beer. They've been at it since '99 or so.
They sounded awesome, and they rocked out and incredible live show.

The plan was to play right before Bishop's set. This became an extremely daunting task, because therein we would have to follow the hard-rocking, ass-kicking Meenies. And their drummer had double kick, whereas we were all just drums and acoustic guitar.

So we rushed the stage armed only with our one ace in the hole: bandanas. We had the idea that since we were a guerilla act, we should mask ourselves. Thing was, you can't find bandanas easily in Dresden. So we used dishtowels.
We tried it in rehearsal, and they were a bit uncomfortable, but okay. However, at the gig I suddenly found that what with elevated performance I was exerting much more force into my singing, ergo needing more air. Well, I damn near suffocated. After belting a line of text, I gasped for air and all I got was a mouth full of table napkin.
Now, I think Ron played the best I ever heard him play. As for me, I fudged a heckofalotta chords. I think maybe I should practice playing while facing a blinding light sometime. And the dishtowel tide around the face really detracts from peripheral vision.
