Say what you want, but I think Brian Wilson is a friggin' genius. Listen to a live performance of his newly finished magnum opus, Smile.

Brian, you're my fav-o-rite veg-e-ta-ble.

A rich man asked Sengai to write something for the continued prosperity of his family so that it might be treasured from generation to generation.

Sengai obtained a large sheet of paper and wrote: "Father dies, son dies, grandson dies."

The rich man became angry. "I asked you to write something for the happiness of my family! Why do you make such a joke as this?"

"No joke is intended," explained Sengai. "If before you yourself die you son should die, this would grieve you greatly. If your grandson should pass away before your son, both of you would be broken-hearted. If your family, generation after generation, passes away in the order I have named, it will be the natural course of life. I call this real prosperity."

Make Love not Spam is a screensaver which sends requests to known spam servers. The notion is that with enough participants, the servers will become overtaxed to the point that the high bandwidth usage makes it no longer financially viable to keep the site up. In that way it is not a ddos. [more]

Where the hell did I put my hat?! (pt. 2)

I've seen this phenomenon like five or seven times today alone, and so I better nip it in the bud before this becomes a pandemic problem. So, fellas. You know how that slick black winter hat you bought this autumn has that tag on it that says "Thinsulate"? Well, that's the back of the hat. Wearing the tag on the front is like walking around with your underwear outside your pants. Sheesh.

Coming back to the real reason I put the Choppin' Blog together in the first place,
Here is a fine example of the kind of text you L1 monkeys might encounter as a selected text for the end of semester test. Software Used to Spot Phoney Art or the like.

And here is a little fluff piece entitled Top 5 Lies on Resumes.
The sad truth is that if you want to work, at some point you may have to lie, or at least present yourself as someone you are not. But you don't have to be obvious about it, as the above link illustrates.

Which reminds me of that Odd Todd guy.
