Shear, Sheared, Shorn.

We were talking about sheep last week in class. In one of the lessons, I mentioned a verse from the Bible. Here it is, from the Song of Solomon.

4:1 Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; thou hast doves' eyes within thy locks: thy hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead.

4:2 Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them.

Get off your toocasses, Pittsburgh! It's zombie time.
You know, there are three kinds of zombies: Hollywood zombies, Haitian zombies, and Philosophical zombies. But really, zombies probably don't exist.
But since we all know that that do indeed exist, you'd better prepare yourself for survival
in an inevitable zombie world.

Class today was indisputably zombified, so the complete makeup time was not fulfilled--yet, but we'll work it out somehow.

As I waited for that big yellow thirteen to take me home, the sky filled with hot air balloons. One caught my eye, as it did everyone's. All of Dresden giddily squealed with giggly glee as a prestigious hot air crate of beer crossed overhead. I couldn't take my eyes off that beer crate, until I heard--in English-- "it's a floating case of beer!" and I looked down to see my esteemed colleague Ron riding by on his bike, grinnin' and a-wavin'. You just can't stay mad at that guy.

I would have taken a picture (of the balloon), but my camera was not on hand. But I am sure plenty of other folks with those fancy camera-phones got a shot. I personally saw two or three folks holding their cellphones up to the heavens in direction of the balloon. Then, they turned to the person next to them and said, "see? That's why it's useful."

Useful indeed. Incidentally, Garrison Keillor did a funny little bit on the radio about taking a ride in a balloon. Listen starting at 1:10.

Garrison does a show called A Prarie Home Companion on public radio back home. They just celebrated their 30th aniversary broadcast. Also notable from that show was an appearance of retro country cats BR5-49 (4:10).

I need to cheer a friend up. Can you help me?
--You could try sending a comic strip from Ucomics.com. They have like a hundred sindicated strips available. One of my faves is Tom the Dancing Bug.

Another one is Doonesbury. It's gotten kinda heavy since BD got his leg blown off in Iraq. Unfortunately Ucomics won't let you view strips older than two weeks anymore, those bastards. So go to the library. Or, look here.

Another great strip is this modern world, and another is Ted Rall.

If you are looking for something so absurd it is no longer funny, look here.

My Back is Killing Me -- Conclusion

Remember how I was complaining how my back was killing me? Well my back is still killing me. It's like I broke a rib or something, except not that painful. I was telling one of my classes today just that, when it suddenly dawned on me. Monday night on my way to the sack, I tripped over my chair in the dark. I lost my bearings and couldn't catch myself from falling and hitting a shelf with my back on the way to the floor.

I must have been pretty tired, because I awoke the next morning with the nightstand lamp still on. And I forgot that I tripped and fell down the night before. So that's why my back is killing me. I fell down. Then I forgot that I fell down.

And they all lived happily ever after, except that their backs are killing them. The end.

Dude Dude Chick reborn

Some have asked why Dude Dude Chick's website is Farked. The answer is simple.

Ron, aka Twennfore, left the band, thus leaving the membership count to one. That left the remaining member standing and wondering if the band is broken up, or just regrouping.

After some soul-searchin' I've decided to stick with the band name. After a bunch of phonecalls and schmooz session I've found some ersatz members to tide me over for the gigs booked in the coming month or so.

So I'll relaunch the website as soon as I have time.

Dude Dude Chick lives! Reararrrarrrrgh!

Back Online
Oh boy, what a week. In addition to being ill, I also had some access issues with my ISP. Over the weekend I played two gigs totally high on paracetamol. I lost my umbrella, which I bought five years ago a Pfennig Pfeiffer for ten marks.
But now all that has passed and we are well into a new week. I have like a hundred email messages to delete now.
